Early next year they want to begin working full speed on a project to install their own turbo-prop engines in older, American-made King Air aircraft as well as other types. During next year at least eight King Air aircraft should be converted.

The start - up date is contingent upon agreement between the insurers as well as the results of negotiations with state authorities which would have to give approval to the consortium.

1.11.2002 - The České Budějovice town council has provided the Hosín airport with 200,000 crowns and wants to cooperate with regional authorities to find a viable solution to maintain international service at the airport. It is urgently necessary to find a long-term financial plan to maintain the license for the only international airport in the southern part of the Czech Republic.

Pondělí, 4 listopadu 2002 - 11:42 AM 7.10.2002 A Czech Air Force Mi-24 helicopter collided with electric lines near the air base in Náměšť nad Oslavou. The helicopter was monitoring the Dukovany nuclear power plant´s air space. No serious damage or injuries were caused by the accident. The crew reported the accident after landing in Náměšť.

1.10. 2002 - SkyEurope Airlines has opened a new regular route between Bratislava and Munich, with which the company has widened the Slovak Republic´s connection with European Union countries. Germany is the sond EU nation with a direct air connection to Slovakia. A route to Berlin should be in operation from October 15, 2002, with connections to Košice and Poprad.
Pondělí, 4 listopadu 2002 - 11:28 AM 26.9.2002 - In spite of the Czech government´s definitive decision not to acquire 24 new JAS-39 Gripen fighters for the time being, representatives of the British-Swedish consortium BAE Systems/SAAB announced that the already begun compensation programmes have not been stopped. Spokesman for the British firm John Neilson stated that nearly twenty offsets are approved and the consortium wants to continue in them.

Pondělí, 21 října 2002 - 10:50 AM 21.9.2002 - The second annual Czech FAI World Grand Prix in aerobatic flying is scheduled to be organized at the Hradec Králové airport in May or June of next year. The first Grand Prix was held last year at the Brno airport. The Czech Air Force Benevolent Fund’s Agency which is in charge of organizing the event wants to focus all its organizational activities next year on this airport.

17.9.2002 - Prague´s Ruzyně Airport cleared 4.283 million passengers during the first eight months of this year, which represents a y/y increase of 1.8 percent. Airport operator ČSL recorded a three-percent increase in cleared passengers from January to July, while the number of passengers cleared at Ruzyně Airport in the month of July was up five percent compared to 2001. August however saw a drop in cleared passengers of 4.1 percent.

India is requesting guarantees for supplies of spare parts throughout the entire lifetime of the aircraft.
Pondělí, 21 října 2002 - 10:34 AM 11.9.2002 - A new historical aircraft museum was created at the former military airport in Hradec Králové. The first ten exhibits can be viewed by visitors in August 2003. "Work on the aviation museum is continuing. The construction will begin in winter and the first exhibits will then be installed in spring," announced the project´s author and director of Albatros Air, Martin Kindernay. Costs to build the museum should amount to 80 million CZK.

8.9.2002 -The sond annual International Martin Stáhalík Memorial was held on a sunny Saturday, Sept. 8 at Příbram’s Dlouhá Lhota airport attracting tens of thousands of spectators. 3.9.2002 Czech Airlines (ČSA) recorded a 50 percent drop in passengers flying to Prague during the sond half of August due to the floods. According to statements by ČSA the decline was caused by the fact that the situation in the Czech Republic was portrayed abroad much more dramatically than it in fact really was.

In addition to ground forces the exercises also made use of L159 aircraft, Tornado aircraft of the German army, Mi-24 and Mi-17 helicopters as well as German CH-53s.
Pátek, 11 října 2002 - 03:00 PM 28.8.2002 Prime minister Vladimír Špidla praised selected pilots of the combat helicopter squadron from Přerov, who won a prestigious competition of specialists of the North Atlantic Alliance in early July in Portugal. The pilots took home the Silver Tiger Trophy for best tiger airmen of NATO. Rusnok met with politicians and company representatives in India. Aero Vodochody is interested in supplying the Indian air force with 66 L159B light combat and training aircraft.

The helicopters spent 423 hours of flying time on 835 flights. The army dispatched to the anti-flood operation 20 helicopters including Mi-17s, W-3A Sokols and Mi-24s and one special L-410FG airplane to photograph the area. více...

14.8.2002 Military helicopters have now transported 131 people to safety from flood afflicted areas in South Bohemia, while 41 people were evacuated in the West Bohemia region. There was an increase in utilized capacity of aircraft of 0.8 of a percentage point to 70.4 %. From January to June the national air carrier transported 8377 tonnes of goods and mail, which was 6.7 % more than last year.

The airline’s operating profit for the first six months y/y rose more than double to 29.67 mil. SKK. During the first half-year the airline made a total of 726 flights and transported 42,792 passengers, including 27,014 passengers on charter routes.

Nikitin, reached an agreement on repairs of 18 MiG-29 aircraft. Finance needed for the repairs worth 13.2 mil. USD for this year are to be earmarked from settlement of Russian debt. The Slovak side is to pay 1.3 mil. USD directly.

A prototype was introduced Tuesday at the Kbely air base in rainy weather in a ground and air demonstration. According to the intergovernmental agreement concluded in mid-April of this year between the Czech Republic and Russia, the Czech airforce is to take over three such planes from 2005 to 2006 as part of the settlement of Russian debt.

The plane was christened by the grandson of the original plane´s designer, Zdeněk Vlach, and taking his seat in the cabin was pilot Jan Rýdl, who presented the plane to the public on June 30 at the "Day of Period Aviation" in Mladá Boleslav.
Středa, 24 července 2002 - 09:26 AM 19.6.2002 An MiG-29 fighter of the Slovak Air Force caught fire at the air base in Sliač. The pilot noticed the flames coming out of the engine shortly before the take-off. After the fire warning by the board computer he switched off both engines and left the plane. The fire was put out by the ground-based emergency service in co-operation with the civil fire brigade of the city of Zvolen.

This is the interpretation of the Minister of Defense Jaroslav Tvrdík regarding the decision of the Czech Chamber of Deputies that did not pass the proposal to finance the air-fighters from the privatization earnings. "To finance the further modernization of the obsolete MiG-21s is a way to the hell," said Tvrdík.

The firm has been negotiating the deliveries of additional approximately ten aircraft for the other units of the army. The price of a plane is 200 000 USD (appr. 6.4 mil CZK). The enterprise has been negotiating the deliveries of the Zlin aircraft to Bolivia and Ecuador as well.

10.6.2002 The army pilots demand a clear perspective, they are ready to fly also with subsonic L-159 planes. The chairman of the Senate Committee for Defense Michael Žantovský informed the journalists about this fact in connection with his meeting with 150 military pilots at the base in Čáslav. Nevertheless according to the statement of the commander of the air base in Čáslav Jiří Verner, the pilots still prefer the purchase of Gripens.

Two hours before the noon the last two single-seat Su-22M4 and one two-seat Su-22UM3K took off in order to fly after the passage flight to the air-basis in Přerov where they are deposited in a declared site. Then there was the official beginning of their successor L-159A. The number of these planes dislocated in Náměšt is to reach 36 planes gradually.

Pondělí, 17 června 2002 - 01:47 PM 22.5.2002 The Czech Airports Authority (ČSL) has leased the regional airport in Brno-Tuřany to the stock company Airport Brno from 1.7.2002. The airport infrastructure itself remained under the state control. Last year 128,000 travellers and 1,000 tons of goods was dispatched at this airport.
